FAQs for non healthcare professionals

Teva has a portfolio of over 1200 product lines, that means we deal with a lot of questions from patients and members of the public.

You can review our most frequently asked questions, and see if your enquiry has already been asked previously.

  • You can filter and search our frequently asked questions to get the answer to your questions quickly.
  • If you want to understand more about generic medicines, you can learn more in "What is a generic medicine?".
  • If your question isn't answered by our FAQs, you can send us an information request and we'll get back to you.
  • If you are a healthcare professional, we have further FAQs that you can review.
  • Can I ask for Teva products from my pharmacist?
Yes you can request a Teva product, however it is down to the discretion of your pharmacist to choose the right medicine for your particular circumstances and you should always follow the advice of a healthcare professional.
  • Can I recycle the blister packaging from my medicine?

No, unfortunately there is currently no where in the UK where blister packaging elements can be recycled.

Please see our environment pages for more information on what Teva does to take responsibility for its people and the environment.

  • Can I recycle the outer packaging from my medicine?
Yes you can recycle the paper and cardboard packaging. Please see our environment pages for more information.
  • How do you decide what colours to use on the packaging?

The decisions around which colours to use on different products packaged in our Teva 360 packaging are made using a variety of information, including data showing the likelihood of medicines being prescribed together, or proximity of the products on an alphabetised shelf.

See Our packaging for more information, and for an interactive look at our Teva 360 packaging.

  • I can't push the omeprazole capsule through the blister pack, why is it so difficult?

The omeprazole capsules are actually in a foil "peel back" pack, and cannot be pushed through the foil. This is to protect them, and make sure they reach you in perfect condition. However, there is a small tab on the foil, which you can peel back to release the capsule.

We have completed the process to change this foil "peel back", including approval by the appropriate regulatory bodies. However, it may take a period of time for new stock of this product to reach pharmacies.

    The product licence numbers are:

    • omeprazole 10mg - PL 00289/1230
    • omeprazole 20mg - PL 00289/1234
    • omeprazole 40mg - PL 00289/1232
