Therapeutic indications

Zacin® (capsaicin cream 0.025%) is for the symptomatic relief of pain associated with osteoarthritis.1

About Zacin®

Zacin® (capsaicin cream 0.025%) is for topical application.1

Capsaicin renders skin insensitive to pain by depleting and preventing re-accumulation of Substance P in peripheral sensory neurons.1

Facts about Zacin®

In a double-blind, randomised study in 70 patients with knee osteoarthritis, Zacin® resulted in a significantly greater reduction in visual analogue scale pain scores compared to placebo (p=0.026) at 2 weeks. Also, the number of patients reporting severe/very severe pain reduced from 52% at baseline to 22% at week two (p<0.01).2

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction.

No interaction studies have been performed, see Section 4.5 of the Summary of Product Characteristics.1

Clinical studies have shown no drug interactions3 with Zacin® (particularly beneficial in patients on multiple drug regimens e.g. the elderly).2
