Teva UK Limited sends medicines for Haiti earthquake relief
19th February 2010
Leading generic medicines manufacturer Teva UK Limited is sending vital medical supplies to the survivors of the recent earthquake in Haiti.
The donation is being managed through specialists International Health Partners (IHP). IHP is working with partner agencies operating in the disaster area to ensure these drugs are delivered to Haiti as quickly as possible.
The medicines have a UK cost of almost £200,000, and include life-saving antibiotics.
Richard Daniell, Commercial Operations Officer at Teva UK Limited, said, “Teva’s philosophy is one of affordable and quality healthcare for all, and we sincerely hope our donation will help those who need it the most in these terrible circumstances. We’re pleased to be able to make a contribution that will assist some of the victims of the tragedy in Haiti.”
This latest donation forms just one element of Teva’s continued commitment to its value of making quality medicine accessible around the world and of the Company’s continued partnership with IHP. As well as a donation of medicines made in 2009, Teva provides IHP with facilities at the Company’s Eastbourne site to make up doctors packs; these are used in countries such as Tanzania and India.
