Teva wins top awards at Test Bed Advisory Group (TAG) event

Teva has won three awards at the NHS Sheffield’s Perfect Patient Pathway Test Bed Celebration Event.

We proudly took home the Best Patient Story, the Best Information Materials Award, and a Patient Support Award for our CareTRx™ Nurses, plus we were delighted to receive a Highly Commended award in the Innovation Technology category too.

The event, which took place on 22 May, was set up to thank all those who have been actively involved in the Test Bed Programme, and to recognise the different people and organisations who have collaborated with NHS England on these Test Bed initiatives.

The Test Bed Advisory Group is made up of volunteers that either have long-term health conditions or are the relative or carer of someone with such conditions. It is their votes and their opinions that decide who is put forward for the awards, which makes winning at the event even more humbling.

The trio of awards were given for our design and implementation of the CareTRx™ Programme, which is a collaborative initiative with NHS Sheffield. It combines digital technology, behavioural science (the study of human behaviour) and patient support services, such as an online resource hub and a dedicated call centre. The project aims to show how this can be of benefit to patients to help them self-manage their respiratory condition and enable them to live better days.

CareTRx™ consists of a Bluetooth sensor that can be attached to certain metered dose inhalers and a mobile app. This allows asthma patients to monitor their medication usage, receive notifications, and view statistics on how accurately they’re adhering to their medicine.

The technology is being tested in a ‘real world’ environment for the first time, which helps to understand how technology can be integrated into daily lives of patients and the healthcare professionals involved in their care. 

James Hadwin, Teva Pathway Development Lead (UK) noted: “Our aim, together with NHS Sheffield, has been to co create a patient centred programme to support patients in the self-management of their asthma. The awards are recognition of our approach and confirmation that a combination of digital healthcare technology and patient support services has the potential to change and maybe even transform how patients engage in the management of their health condition.”
