Teva supports efforts to highlight the growing pressures on community pharmacists

Teva UK Limited has expressed concern at reports of rising stress levels and strains on health and wellbeing amongst community pharmacists across the country.

A survey by Chemist + Druggist magazine highlighted a worrying trend, with stress levels amongst UK pharmacists rising six percentage points over previous years. Other issues raised include 43% of respondents reporting trouble sleeping, 27% of respondents citing depression issues and 6% having suicidal thoughts. 01

Teva says it backs efforts by industry charities such as Pharmacist Support to highlight growing pressures on community pharmacists, including the event on 9th September 2019 in the Houses of Parliament which was backed by the All-Party Pharmacy Group chair Sir Kevin Barron MP.

“Pharmacists are at the heart of many communities across the UK,” said Kim Innes, General Manager of Teva UK & Ireland.

“They play a central role in improving the wellbeing of patients and delivering public health services, and it is important that as a healthcare community we do more to offer pharmacists the support that they need. At Teva we are proud of the close relationships we have developed over many years with pharmacy. As a company we will be exploring how we can further develop tools and initiatives that can be used by pharmacists to support the important work they do for patients across the UK every day.”
