I'm a Warehouse Operative working in the logistics centre in Castleford. I've been here for about 14 months and I love it. Before joining Teva I was a delivery driver for Asda and prior to that I worked in an Argos store.
Teva's distribution centre is a state-of-the-art facility that was officially opened in September 2009. I was one of the lucky 15 people to be recruited and trained right from the very start. But to be honest, I almost walked out on the first day because I was so baffled by all the technology and computers.
My Team Leader and coach at that point were just fantastic. They calmed me down and said I could do it, one step at a time. And from that moment on, I received total support and patience from the entire team.
I don't really have a typical day because my duties are changed to make the role more interesting and varied.
These days I'm more confident in my role, but that helping hand is something I'll never forget. In fact, I pass the experience on to all the new people who walk in here on day one with wide eyes and apprehension. I say to them: "I know how you feel, because I've been there." I'm able to reassure them and give them all the help they need to succeed in the role.
I work the early shift, but I don't really have a typical day because my duties are changed to make the role more interesting and varied. It's my job to make sure the customers get their orders for Teva products on time and in full. The company uses Pick By Light (PBL) technology to tell us how many products to pick and pack into a box.
Another day I'll be checking orders, picking, or replenishing the stock into the PBL area, or working with the team that ships the products out of the warehouse. Sometimes when it's really busy I'm confident enough to give the Team Leaders a helping hand...not bad for someone that nearly walked out on day one!
We get loads of training so that we have skills to use in other parts of the warehouse and, if needed, you can get additional training to use the fork-lift machinery for example.

Like everyone I get my good days and bad days, but I enjoy the variety of jobs that come with this role, and more than anything I love the people. I love my team which makes the job so much easier and enjoyable to do.
