Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board Project Summary

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board Pharmacy & Medicines Management Clinical Programme Groups (CPG) Partnership Working Initiative

A project between Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, Teva UK Limited and other partners to develop operational plans at Clinical Programme Group (CPG) level

The aim of this externally facilitated project was to support the CPG in the process of developing their one year operational plan and to begin to consider what was required to develop three year rolling strategic plans.

The objectives of the project were aligned to:

  • Achieving the priorities defined within the University Health Boards three year strategic plan
  • Prudent healthcare principles
  • Redesign and improvement of patient pathways
  • Financial and service sustainability
  • Achievement of some of the CPG’s £8 million efficiency targets

Leicester NHS Trust Project Summary

Executive Summary of Partnership Working between University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and Teva UK Limited

The project aims to ultimately improve patient management of their asthma through the use of an asthma app which is distributed to the patient by a healthcare professional.

Project Period: both parties have committed resources to this project and the project will run for a period of 12 months.

Project is designed to:

  • Design, develop and implement an asthma app for patients from practices in the Leicestershire locality and patients from the severe asthma clinic at Glenfield hospital, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust
  • Establish whether an asthma app can change asthma related outcomes over a 12 month period for a cohort of patients who attend a severe asthma clinic 
  • Understand whether an asthma app introduced to a patient by a healthcare professional can affect the consultation process and patient experience.

NHS East Riding of Yorkshire Project Summary

Be Medicine Aware

Teva UK Limited and NHS East Riding of Yorkshire Partnership Project

This is a summary of a partnership project about how NHS East Riding of Yorkshire worked in a local partnership with the Teva Integrated Healthcare Manager and Teva UK Limited to address the issue of medicine wastage.

The objectives of this Be Medicine Aware campaign were to:

  • Reduce the amount of repeat prescribing across NHS East Riding of Yorkshire
  • Make patients aware that using their medication correctly will make them feel better
  • Encourage patients to ask themselves “do I need this medication?” before they tick the box on their repeat prescription slip
  • Increase awareness that patients can talk to their local pharmacist for help and advice
