Mark Cooper

Hi, I'm Mark Cooper, Commercial Quality Officer from Teva UK

“It’s a great working environment”

I originally trained as an apprentice at British Aerospace and all of my colleagues have worked in really varied sectors in the past. It just shows us that your life experience and the skills you’ve learned along the way are so important when working in this area; it’s not just about your qualifications or what industry you’ve worked in.

My own route to working in the commercial quality team at Teva is a good example of this. At 17, I started my apprenticeship and I trained as a mechanical engineer before moving to a job in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Having a keen eye for detail was essential in those jobs, just as it is here.

I’ve been at Teva for more than four years now and my role in the quality team is very varied, from working on product releases to audits and customer quality complaints. Every day is different.

It’s a great working environment and there are a lot of benefits to working here, from schemes like Cycle to Work through to our flexible working policy, which is great. I also feel that I’ve got a very caring employer. When my wife, who also works at Teva, broke her elbow last year, Teva was extremely considerate and supportive.

There was no pressure to rush back to work and she received a lot of support. Teva also offers private healthcare and an employee assistance helpline, which I’ve never had from any other company.

I’d really recommend it as a place to work.
