Products

We specialise in manufacturing difficult-to-make medicines that improve the lives of patients all over the world – including treatments for multiple sclerosis, migraine, cancer and various respiratory conditions.

They are broadly split into two categories: pre-filled syringe products and blow-fill-seal products. Read on to learn more about them.

PFS

Pre-Filled Syringes

Using a state of the art facility, with cutting edge technology, we manufacture, fill and package some of our products in pre-filled syringes. These are products that allow self-administration in the home (or other non-clinical settings), which can help reduce the burden on healthcare systems.

It means that a patient can take their injectable medicine in the comfort of their own home, rather than having to travel to their GP or hospital to be treated. It also means that the correct dose is administered always, limiting waste and enhancing patient safety.

BFS

Blow-Fill-Seal

Blow-Fill-Seal (BFS) technology is a manufacturing technique used to produce small and large volume liquid-filled containers. The basic concept of BFS is that a container is formed, filled, and sealed in a continuous process without human intervention, in a sterile enclosed area inside a machine.

There are very few human interventions in the entire manufacuring process, this reduces the risk of microbial contamination and foreign particulates.

R&D

Runcorn is also home to a research and development centre focused on developing sterile device technology.

Researchers in the device technology team have developed all sorts of delivery devices, from reusable auto-injectors and syringes pre-filled with a dosage of medicine that you take out of a pack, to pen devices with drug filled cartridges ready to inject and freeze-dried powders that can be dissolved in vial kits.

Training

Our Sterile Training Academy is also located at the site – containing a sterile, temperature-controlled product team room to help train the next generation of pharmaceutical professionals.
