Hi, I’m Callum Lea, Director of Digital for the UK and Ireland cluster

I joined Teva early in 2023 to lead the Digital team within the UK and Ireland and help Teva shape it’s digital transformation. My role is all about helping Teva to solve the challenges of both customers and colleagues by leveraging technology and introducing new ways of working.

My background is in financial services, starting out in a variety of customer-facing and operational roles before making the transition into Digital. My career journey has mainly been influenced by a desire to affect positive change and drive the technology solutions that were being introduced into the organisations I worked for.

To begin with, I utilised my operations background to focus more on Digital Operations and ensuring digital assets such as website and communication channels were working effectively before eventually shifting my attention to digital strategy and transformation.

I think that the kind of digital roles I have had in my career equip you with a lot of skills that can be transferred across a broad range of industries, such as leading and motivating a team, constantly being curious about what’s over the horizon and constantly questioning how we might do things better. The technology may always be evolving, but the core skills you need to succeed in this kind of working environment stay the same.

The role at Teva came at a perfect time for me: I was ready for a new challenge and was looking for something specifically within a global organisation. I love the personal enrichment you get from working with people across geographies, with different cultural backgrounds. As well as managing a team of people largely based in West Yorkshire, I am in close and regular contact with colleagues in Croatia, the Netherlands and beyond.

The complexity of the pharmaceutical industry is fascinating, and the scale of the challenge here at Teva is exciting

Being responsible for helping create an industry-leading digital proposition means you don’t get the chance to sit still! You’re always learning, and you’ve got to be flexible and agile in your approach to be able to adapt to the constant change that digital can bring with it. And there’s a good acknowledgement of that at Teva, so I’ve been really empowered to hit the ground running.

What I’ve found really inspiring is that the work that my team delivers, directly contributes to the healthcare system and ultimately improving the lives of the many patients who rely on Teva medicines and services.
